The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 international goals set by the United Nations in 2015 to be achieved by 2030. These goals cover a range of issues, from poverty and hunger to climate change and gender equality and aim to create a better future for all. Higher education has an important role to play in achieving the SDGs. Universities and other educational institutions can educate students about the SDGs and provide research and resources to support their implementation. Universities can also encourage students to become actively involved in SDG-related initiatives, such as volunteering or taking part in campaigns.
Universities can also use their resources to directly contribute to the SDGs. For example, they can provide access to resources and expertise to support local and international communities, develop innovative technologies and solutions, and conduct research to further our understanding of the SDGs and how they can be achieved. Additionally, universities can foster sustainable practices in their own campuses, such as implementing energy-efficient buildings and reducing waste and emissions. By engaging in the Sustainable Development Goals, universities can contribute to the development of a better future, while also helping to prepare students to become global citizens equipped to address the challenges of the 21st century
