The National Education Policy (NEP)- 2020, the third post-independence policy focusing on Indian Education System, aims to reform the present education system and provide new opportunities for higher education institutions and universities. It seeks to provide equitable access for all students, irrespective of their socio-economic background. The policy emphasizes the need for holistic education, from early childhood to higher education, with a strong emphasis on vocational training.
It aims to ensure that no child and student is deprived of any opportunity to learn and excel. Growth in private universities will be encouraged as part of this policy, encouraging more private sector participation. The policy also proposes measures to reduce the difficulty in setting up and operating new colleges and universities, as well as reducing the cost of education. This will help to create a more public-private partnership between the government and the private sector, in order to achieve the objectives of the policy.
