Chairman National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)
Professor Bhushan Patwardhan has over 40 years of experience in higher education, scientific research, and institutional governance. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Medical Sciences India.
At present he is Chairman, National Assessment and Accreditation Council and Ayush Lead for the WHO Global Center for Traditional Medicine. Until March 2021, he was Vice Chairman, University Grants Commission, and Chairman additional charge Indian Council ofSocial Science Research, Government of India.
He chaired the Interdisciplinary R&D Taskforce on Covid19, and is a member of an advisory committee constituted by the Ministry ofAYUSH. He has worked on Boards of several Universities and member of important national committees of the Ministry of AYUSH, Ministry of Education, CSIR, DST and Taskforces of NITI Aayog, National Knowledge Commission, Planning Commission, United Nations Organizations, World Bank and temporary consultant to the WHO Geneva.
He is a recipient of many orations and awards including the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Award 2021, Waldemar Haffkine Oration 2014, Sir Ram Nath Chopra Oration 2013, just to mention a few. His scholarly books ‘Integrative Approaches for Health’ and ‘Innovative Approaches to Drug Discovery’ both published by Academic Press Elsevier have received excellent reviews.
